Trip to Wellington

This weekend I travelled to Wellington to pick up a draft copy of The Glasgow Smile. it looks fabulous. I must admit when I opened the package…i had quite an emotional moment…all that hard work..all those ups and downs, the doubts and the inspirations….this one was a bit of a wild ride with the expectation that this second book would be even better than the first.  Of course that was only me putting the pressure on myself, but after winning the Ngaios, I didnt want to be considered a one hit wonder..so for me there was a lot riding on this novel. I have to admit that I think it is stronger, certainly my  writing has strengthened and it feels as if a more mature writer has written this book. I hope the readers think so.
