Sydney Bad festival Killer Kiwis

Living in Nelson I dont get to meet many other crime writers..apart from my friend Bonnie Strawbridge, so it was great to be part of the Killer Kiwi panel  at the Sydney BAD festival..facilitated by R.W.R Mc Donald..of The Nancys crime book fame.  The photo attached is of us all…former winners or shortlisted Ngaio Marsh authors and all Kiwis…. it was so good to spend time with them and hear their stories.  Rob McDonald, Fiona Sussman, Nikki Crutchley, ROck/Jacqui Bubiltz and me.

We were a diverse group..youth crime, Psychological, victim centric and feminist and social justice and I learned so much over the weekend…thank you ladies…..and Rob. Three books were set in NZ, one in Melbourne and one between Australia and New York.

It was interestingly noted by a few of the authors that we felt honoured to be asked to be part of an Australian crime festival, when our local and regional arts festivals have tended to overlook us.  We all agreed this needs to change.
