manuscript with editor

Finally…..I had set a deadline to send the MS to the editor and made it by 24 hours. I had three weeks of working ten hours a day…..mainly on refining the details. I didn’t have time to read the MS aloud, but I will do this next time. I do have a voice reader on my laptop, but the american twang and stilted talking, doesnt work.

It always amuses me how I can have no trouble writing 97,000 words, but to complete a one- page synopsis is excruciating.  I finally have a title as well. I was told by a fellow writer that the title is like the head of the eel….important because it heads and drives the story.

Some one asked me the other day if I liked what i had written. I know i moan at this stage that I cant see the wood for the trees a, but when I am reading, I get this buzz, this frisson and I know that if it has this effect on me, then it will have the same effect on the reader.  Yes I like it very much indeed.

Since Xmas I have been doing very little except write and rewrite and so I feel this is a very boring post. I do have a new puppy, an American cocker spaniel called Laylah…a lovely arabic name and she is gorgeous. My dogs keep me from sitting too long on the couch and when I walk at the beach, the fresh air and space allows me to think and it’s always the time when i get new ideas or issues that I have in the book, get resolved.

I wont know myself with two months off. I have a list of jobs that need doing around the house and already have been to the dump and have started working on my overgrown back yard. I plan to go away for a week in June and in May am meeting up with friends for a couple of days in Hanmer.  With the world being so politically unstable, I value each precious safe moment.
