Manuscript finished

When I finished this manuscript after more than two years i thought I would be running around the house shouting with glee…….jumping in the air, but I sat down on the couch with feelings I couldn’t explain and still can’t. Maybe I need more time. My mind kept recalling a quote I once read about failed expectations. This was from T.S. Eliot’s 1925 poem “The Hollow Men” which concludes with the famous, often-cited lines about the world ending in a whisper rather than a loud bang. The finishing of my novel is hardly world ending, but maybe in my heart it is for me.

The story might be finished, but now comes the equally challenging part. Finding a publisher. I am always amused that I can write 360 pages, but ask me to do a two-page synopsis, it takes me a few days and much angst. Anyway, that and the blurb is done and I am very pleased with everything. I can do more.  I won’t reveal the title of the novel because I know that sometimes a publisher might want to change it. I can only hope that a publisher will find my book a gripping read.

I have analysed why I think this book should appeal. Its contemporary, unputdownable, has an international flavour, it  has as an underpinning theme manipulation, self-deceit and misperceptions. I have called it a blending of Le Carre’s ushes the boundary of the crime thriller genre and it reminds me of The Constant Gardner meets Graham Greens The Quiet American with a rush of an Andy McNabb.

I will be posting more often now that I have more time.
